Sr.Stephy (Alphonsa) was the second of seven children, to late Mr Antony Pallissery and late Mrs.Achunni. She was born on 13 April, 1949 at Parappukara, Thrichur Diocese. After completing SSLC at Parappukara Govt. School, she joined SD Chunangamvely, in 1966 made her First Profession on 6 January, 1969. After the Perpetual Profession on 29 May, 1975 she worked at Chunangamvely, Thottumugham, Pazhanganad, Perumanur, Kottayam, Munchirai, Podippara, Pala, Thiruvananthapuram, Chethipuzha, Kavumkandam, Nazareth Thekkekara, Kanjirappally, Elikulam and Mercy Home. Sr.Stephy was a responsible person. She could foresee the need of others and help them. She had very firm conviction that the Lord will provide whatever we need if we trust him fully. She had great concern for the poor and needy. After her work in the community she used to go for visiting houses. She got help from various sources and helped a good lot of needy, deserving families. Since she was gifted in the art of cooking, she was sent for the training in the Food Craft Institute, Kalamassery. She enjoyed community life and enlivened it by her presence. For her, work was a continuation of her prayer life. She served as superior in many communities. She was very good at vocation promotion also. While she was superior in St.Vincent De Paul Providence House, Pala, the Rotary Club members used to call her “The Mother Teresa of Pala.” Before death, for about a month, she was totally bed-ridden. She was called to heavenly abode on 25 January, 2017 at 9.00 am. The burial took place on the following day at the Provincial House, Chethipuzha.
