Sr.Pouline (Aleykutty) was born on 24 April, 1919, at Muttuchira, Pala Diocese, in the Kochupurackal Family. Her parents were late Mr.Mathew and late Mrs.Annamma. She was the youngest of five children in the family and lost her mother when she was only two years old. From then she was brought up by her sister Annamma. In 1939, she joined SD convent, Chunangamvely, and she made her First Profession on 24 April, 1941 and Perpetual Profession on 6 June, 1954. Srs.Bonitta SD, Greeta SD and Sharlet SD are her nieces. Soon after first profession she was appointed as the Novice Mistress. She also served as Marthas Mistress at Chunangamvely. Later she passed ‘Malayalam Vidwan’ and started her career as a High School teacher. For twenty six years, she worked in St. Augustine’s GHS, Kuzhuppilly. After retirement she taught one year at Nirmala English Medium High School, Muvattupuzha and eleven years at Nirmala English Medium High School, Aluva. In 1986, at the age of 67, she came to St. Joseph’s Provincial House, Chethipuzha, and Changanassery. The following 16 years she worked at SD Podippara, holding various types of responsibilities. The parishioners loved her pleasant, gentle, loving and dedicated service. She always gave priority to Jesus. All her activities were an outflow of her prayer life. She received the Sacrament of the Sick consciously and passed away on 8 May, 2015, at the age of 96. Dear Sr.Pouline, your zealous life is indeed an inspiration.
