Sr.Petite Terese (Lucy) was the youngest of seven children of, late Mr.Eapan Kumbukkal
(Kizhkkethalackal) and late Mrs.Achamma. She was born at Chirakkadavu, Kanjirappally diocese, on 21 September, 1935. After degree she was teaching and at that time she was called by the Lord to religious life. She responded to her call and joined SD and made First Profession on 4 August, 1958 and Perpetual Profession in 28 May, 1963. Late Srs. Hilda CMC and Eusebia CMC are her sisters. She had mature dealings and great insights regarding life. She worked with Msgr. George Valliarumpeth and put in her heart and soul for the growth of the Congregation. She worked hard for the renewal of SD Constitution after Second Vatican Council. Her contribution in the field of social apostolate deserves special mention. She gave a new approach and vision to the Social Apostolate of SD. The foundation of Suhruthsadan, Chunangamvely, in 1978, is the best example for this. It provided job for many poor deserving persons in and around Chunangamvely. Sr. Petite Terese, a person of foresight, firm determination and equanimity, lived her call with utmost sincerity and zeal. She was the General Councillor twice, Provincial Superior, Provincial councillor, and local superior. Her service had been at Chunangamvely Thottumugham, Suhurutsadan, Podippara, Munchirai, Provincial House, Chellarcoil, Kodinattukunnu and Mercy Home. She was the voice of the voiceless! During her last days she was at rest in Santhwana, and was totally bed-ridden for two weeks. On 19 November, 2019, her condition became serious and after receiving the Sacrament of the Sick, she peacefully went for her eternal reward. Dear Sr. Petite Terese, we cherish your love for the Congregation and for the poor.
