Sr.Josephine (Gracy) hailed from Thodupuzha, Kothamangalam diocese. She was the third among nine children, of the esteemed Nelluvelil family. Parents were late Mr. Mathew and late Mrs. Mariamma. She was born on 10 October, 1936. She was very active in the school and was the sports champion. She joined SD convent, Chunangamvely, in response to the inner voice of her beloved Jesus. She made her First Profession on 7 January, 1956 and Perpetual Profession on 28 May, 1961. Sr.Josephine had the training in nursing and worked in our dispensaries. She gave special care and nattention to the poor patients. Her prayers along with the medicine was a blessing for all irrespective of gender, caste, creed and culture. She was also teaching catechism and prepared children for first Holy Communion in the parishes. She did generous service at places like, Thuravoor, Udayanapuram, Kothumudy, Varthattu, Kavumkandam, Nazareth- Thekekara and Provincial House, Chethipuzha. Sr.Josephine used to spend a long time before the Blessed Sacrament. She was witty and assertive by nature. Slowly she started getting various health problems. While in the Samaritan Hospital Pazhanganad, she was diagnosed as having viral hepatitis, on 10 July, 1998. She received the Sacrament of the Sick. Within two days she became unconscious. On 10 August, 1998, at 1.05pm, she was called for her eternal reward.
