Sr.Emilia (Annamma) was born on 26 December, 1936 in a village called Channapetta, Punaloor, Kerala. Her parents were late Mr.Kuriako Kunnukuzhiyil and late Mrs.Aley. She had a sister too. Their mother passed away when they were very young.She studied ANM course, at Kottiyam Holy Cross Hospital and worked for some time. At the age of 22, she joined SD Convent, Chunangamvely.On 6 January, 1967 she made her First Profession and on 16 January, 1973, did Perpetual Profession. Sr.Emilia worked at Karukutty, Thottumugham and Samaritan Hospital, Pazhanganad. For a long time she served in the pediatric ward among the little angels.Though she had severe diabetes, she herself adjusted everything and led a happy, contented life. She never complained about anything instead faced the challenges of life with great joy and equanimity; did lot of good deeds without anybody’s notice and was extremely careful to do a few things for the community daily.In short, she was a person of deep prayer, simple life-style and true love for others. Her free time was spent in prayer and doing charitable deeds. By 1989, her health condition deteriorated and was taken to Thriuvananthapurum for treatment; from there to Kozhikode and finally back to our Samaritan Hospital, Pazhanganad. She knew very well that she was seriously ill and prepared herself well by receiving the Sacrament of the Sick. Sr.Emilia remained calm, prayerful, grateful and joyful. On 17 September, 1989 Sunday, at 3.30pm, she bade farewell to this world and went for her eternal reward. Her mortal remains are buried at Podippara parish cemetery.
