Sr.Dominic Kuroore

Sr.Dominic (Elizabeth) was born on 30 June, 1929, as the eldest of six children of late Mr. K.J Mathai and late Mrs.Annamma of the Kuroore family, at Anickad, Muvattupuzha, Kothamangalam diocese, Kerala. She had three sisters and two brothers. After her High School education, she joined SD Chunangamvely, in 1945. On 6 January 1951, she made her First Profession and Perpetual Profession on 22 August, 1955. Sr.Dominic was a zealous soul, had great love for God and neighbour. She was a person of prayer and asceticism. The smile on her face was the external expression of the joy of the Holy Spirit, she experienced within. She was very punctual, spick and span in life, and had great devotion to the Blessed Sacrament. Sr.Dominic lived and served at Chunangamvely, Madras (Chennai), Aluva, Mercy Home, Chethipuzha and in the Provincial House. She took her degree in B.Sc Nursing, from Madras University. She was Nurses’ Tutor at Madras Govt. Hospital, Vellore Hospital and St.Thomas Hospital, Chethipuzha. She was the state secretary of the ‘Madras Nurses Guild’. She was a very dedicated religious. She loved community life and sisters, and was obedient to the rules and regulations of the Congregation. Also, she was concerned about the poor and needy, the downtrodden ones of the society. Since past eight years due to ill- health she was resting at Santhwana, for the past one year was bed- ridden. On Saturday, 3 October, 2020, after Holy Mass, Sr.Dominic had her breakfast. Noticing sudden changes in her breathing, the superiors were informed and Fr.Ullas VC gave her Sacrament of the Sick. In the midst of prayers and in the presence of all she bade farewell to this world. She flew away to be ever with her beloved Saviour Jesus Christ. May she rest in peace and intercede for us in Heaven.
