Sr.Caroline (Thankamma) was the youngest of the ten children of late Mr. Joseph Tharayil and late Mrs.Thresiamma. She was born on 21 October, 1938, at Kannady, Alappuzha District. She did her degree in SB College, Changanassery. She responded to her divine call and entered SD convent Chunangamvely. She made her First Profession on 6 January, 1963. Then she was sent to USA and completed MBBS from St.Louis University. On 2 June, 1968 she made her Perpetual Profession in Dusseldorf, Germany. Sr.Caroline came back to Kerala in 1970 and for 16 years she worked at Samaritan Hospital Pazhanganad as a Gynaecologist. Later she rendered her service in our hospitals like Sagaya Matha-Coonoor, Jivodaya- Delhi and Jyothi Hospital-Belthangady. She lived the charism of SD in the field of service, joyfully spreading the fragrance of Jesus the compassionate, Saviour and Lord. She was a jovial person and her presence was well by sisters. She valued human dignity, respected everyone and was contented and grateful too. She had a pleasant nature and showed great hospitality to the guests. While she was in Belthangady, on 26 February, 2015, she had a stroke. Then she was brought to  Samaritan Hospital, Pazhanganad. On 14 May, she received the Sacrament of the Sick consciously. On 23 May, 2015, at 9.40pm she breathed her last and entered eternal rest.
