SD Changanassery

St.Agnes Play School is situated at Thandalam, Maduramdakam Taluk, Kancheepuram District in Tamil Nadu. The village of Thandalam was extremely backward in terms of its economy, education, and culture. We started our convent in 1990 and we started many programs and projects for the upliftment of the poor villagers in Thandalam. Among them one is our St.Agnes Play School which was established in 1991.
We started the Play School to improve education of the poor kids. Not only we educate them but also we improve the intellectual needs through many creative activities. We conduct awareness classes for their parents regularly. We prepare the children for the admission in Tamil Medium School.

Our classes are LKG and UKG. Twenty children are in UKG and 29 are in LKG. One Aayamma and two teachers are present to assist them. Every day, classes begin with a prayer. Teachers provide our pupils tests, games, programs, and other activities every month. On November 14th, we celebrated Children’s Day. On that day, our children gave a variety of programs. They love going to school and are quite content.

This nursery school, was established in 1993 with the aim of providing quality education and care to the children of the local community at chennathur.
OBJECTIVES
– To provide a nurturing environment for the holistic development of children
– To identify and develop the hidden talents of students
– To promote the physical, emotional, and cognitive well-being of children

– Regular medical check-ups and assistance are provided by the Health Department every month
The Shanthi Nilayam Nursery School, Chennathur, remains committed to providing quality education and care to the children of the local community.

People from long distances were coming for treatment, including Thirupur, Gopi, Sathyamangalam, and Puliyampathi. 10-15 patients visit every day. Dr. Chinna Swamy is available for patients and provides free treatment to impoverished individuals. One nurse assistant and one housekeeping staff member are also on hand. The residents, especially the underprivileged, may always depend on this Dispensary.

Each day, between 20 to 25 patients come from the village and nearby areas. We are providing special care for individuals who are bedridden. Free treatment is provided to needy patients, as well as care for de-addiction patients. A doctor visits twice a month and provides free services. Many Hindus are drawn to the Christian faith, and we provide them with all spiritual aid.

This facility has been open for the past 24 years. Once a week, a doctor comes to this centre. Every day, 15-20 patients from nearby areas arrived. We offered care for the elderly, as well as help for their families and counselling sessions. We provided special care for young individuals who had bad behaviours, as well as free therapy in low-income areas.

Every day, 20-40 patients arrive from the village and nearby areas. A doctor from the government hospital visits the patients once a week. We provide free medical care to those who are in need. We visit bedridden people in outlying communities based on their needs and administer injections and medications. We are concerned with their spiritual needs in addition to their physical and medical demands. Encourage them to go on retreat and to attend prayer sessions.

There are other hospitals and government health centers nearby, and while there are fewer people from outside, this dispensary is widely used by boarding students. We cared for individuals who were bedridden as well as those who had been abandoned in nearby communities. Once a week, a doctor visits the patients.

Jyothi Hospital has been functioning at Belthangady for the past 20 years caring the sick especially the poor and marginalized. Sagayamatha Hospital was established in 1973, started as a small dispensary and has been up graded to the present 40 bedded Hospital with General Medicine, General Surgery, Obstetrics & Gynaecology, Paediatrics and Operation Theatre since 1989.
Sagayamatha Hospital is situated in COONOOR. The area is located on a hilly terrain that is surrounded by hills, valleys, and plantations. This hospital is dependent on over 10,000 people. Tribals, landless laborers, marginal farmers, and other weak and vulnerable sections are the most common beneficiaries of the hospital. We provide extension services in hilly underdeveloped villages, which include free mobile clinics every week, regular visits and free health services. Our hospital’s services are purely charitable, so we make substantial concessions and even provide free treatment to very poor patients who cannot afford to pay. The general wards are free of bed charges so that the needy can receive better care at a lower cost.
In the year 2021, we will be fully engaged in the treatment of the Covid Pandemic. We vaccinated the rural population of Coonoor with the help of PHC Coonoor and the Government Hospital. This pandemic year, we vaccinated 800 people. In May 2021, we began admitting Covid patients, setting up 16 isolation beds and treating 220 patients. By God’s mercy, everyone has recovered and has been discharged from the hospital. We must thank our doctors, nurses, and social workers for their dedicated service to our ailing people.
The Government of Tamil Nadu has recognised our enthusiasm and sincerity in the field of services. Mrs. Innocent Divya IAS, district Collector, presented us with the best service award certificate to the hospital, which was accepted by Sr. Evuline Treasa S.D. and Sr. Teresin S.D.
We provided post-Covid counselling to people who were depressed as a result of Covid. We are transferring positive cases to government hospitals with the assistance of government officials. Rev. Fathers, Sisters, and Brothers who were admitted to our hospital owing to Covid have all recovered by God’s grace.
Poor people were given extra attention and discounts on consultations and room rent. Four expectant women received hospital and delivery care from us. The delivery cases were managed by Dr. Kausalya M.D. D.G.O.
