SD Kumily was started as a Prayer House of the Province on 18 May1998, near Attapallam St. Thomas Forane Church. The purchase of the land and construction of the House were all under the direction of Rev. Fr. George Kottadikunnel, the former Forane Vicar. Sr. Manonja (Sup.), Rosily Jose and Meera Jose were the pioneers. From 2005 to 2009 it served as the Novitiate house of the Province. The tough topography and extreme cold climate of the place make it difficult for Sisters to use this House as a place of prayer. So it lost its status as Prayer House. Identifying the need of the place we have started a Physiotherapy – Autism Centre here named as Mar Thoma Rehabilitation Centre, as an extension of the MRT at Chethipuzha Mercy Home. It has proved to be helpful for the needy in the vicinity. Along with the three other Congregations in the Parish we are also active in the pastoral activities aiming at faith formation and development of the parishioners. Sisters are teaching in the Schools of the Corporate Management of the Diocese, as they get appointed or transferred.
