As a response to the invitation of Rt.Rev.Aruldas James, the Bishop of Ootty, Srs. Jean and Jeswin reached Coonoor on 14 July 1976, to take charge of the priest home “Tabor” and to provide medical care to the poor villagers. They started their ministry staying in an old building. A dispensary was opened in the parish hall of Sahayamatha church. Later the Bishop built a convent and a dispensary. In 1989, with the effort of Sr.Dr.Rose Korah a 40 bed Sahayamatha Hospital was completed. Poor patients in the general ward are given special care and free treatment. Mobile clinics, classes on health and hygiene are organized in addition to the pastoral activities. The committed service of Sr.Dr.Caroline throughout these years is highly appreciated.
