The apostolic vision of the SD aims at interiorizing Christ’s experience of destituteness, which began at the incarnation and was consummated on the cross and become Good News to the poor through our compassionate ministry. The compassionate presence of Christ who identified with the poorest, the suffering and the needy is always with us. The experience of this presence spurs on us to see the face of Christ in everyone whom we meet and serve them with love and compassion. It shall dawn on us that everyone who is the fruit of the precious blood of Christ whether he is poor, sick, weak or sinful needs to be served and brought to salvation. We, the Sisters of the Destitute shall strive to realise in ourselves in a special way the words of the Church: “The joy and hope, the grief and anguish of the men of our time, especially of those who are poor and afflicted are those of the followers of Christ as well”. Evangelisation is the primary goal of all the apostolic activities of our Congregation at all times. Through us and our ministries, the message of the compassionate love of Jesus shall go deep into the hearts and influence the lives of all, especially the poor.
