Sr.Rose Modangayil (Celine Mathew) was born on August 8, 1951, the youngest of three children of the late Mathew and Rosa,Modangayil (H), Ettumanoor, Kottayam district. After passing SSLC, she joined the Tripunithura Kalamandalam for a five-year diploma course and completed her studies in Bharatanatyam, Kuchippudi and music. While working as a dance teacher at Nirmala English Medium School, Aluva, she joined the SD Congregation in 1978 and took her first vows in 1982 and her permanent vows in 1988. Sr. Rose, who served at Chethippuzha Mercy Home, Kanjirappally, Kodinattukunnu, Choottuveli, Pala, Manaladi, Alappuzha and Fatimapuram spent a long time with differently abled children and worked sincerely for their rehabilitation. She had suffered a lot due to rheumatic arthritics. Despite undergoing many treatments, there was no significant improvement. While living a peaceful life in Santhwana, Chethippuzha, she became completely disabled in December 2023. Accepting the pain with a smile, Sr.Rose remained spiritually alert by receiving the Holy Sacraments until her last day. On Sunday, January 28, 2024, at 3.30 pm, after receiving the Anointing of the Sick from Reverend Father Jerin CMI, she completed her sacrificial offering and departed for heaven.
