Sr. Georgitta, Mary Jacob was born on Dec 30, 1939 in the Karikkampally family as the youngest of nine children to Mr. Thomas and Annamma. She belonged to Lourd Matha Parish, Pacha in Changanasserry Arch Diocese. She did her High school education at St. Aloysius School, Edathwa and joined SD Convent, Chunangamvely in 1959. She did her first profession on Jan, 7,1961 and made her final commitment on June 25, 1964. Sister Georgitta was one of the first foreign missionaries. She went to Dusseldorf, Germany on Aug 31, 1964 along with others; studied Nursing in Germany and served in Germany till 1975. Once she reached kerala, continued her service at Samaritan Hospital Pazhanganad, Kasthurba Hospital Madras, Karukutty, Meloor, Satna (MP), Amboori and St.Thomas Hospital Chethipuzha. She was good in construction work, cooking and also very good in helping the needy, the poor and down-trodden ones. She also served as local superior at different places like Coonoor, Munchirai, Thandalam, and Kothumudy. Sr.Georgitta also served at Nazareth-Thekkekara, Alappuzha and Pala. Due to ill- health she came to Provincial House and was resting at Santhwana. Slowly her health started deteriorating. After receiving the sacrament of the sick and Holy Communion she breathed her last, on Aug 21, 2022, in the presence of Mother DeepthiJose and sisters. May her soul rest in peace.
