Sr.Berthlumia (Manikutty) was born on 26 August, 1940 at Muttar as the second of twelve children in the Valamparambil family. Her parents were late Mr.Thommy and late Mrs.Marykutty. After SSLC, responding to the Lord’s call, she entered SD, on 1 June 1960. She made her First Profession on 6 January, 1962 and Perpetual Profession on 30 May, 1966. Sr.Berthulumia was courageous, capable, God fearing, sincere and loving. She was superior in different communities and was interested and involved in the construction work. She had great devotion to the Sacred Heart and Mother Mary. She found joy in serving the poor and needy wherever she had been. She served in the convents like, Chunangamvely, Chemmanathukara, Parur, Kuzhuppilly, Munchirai, Mercy Home, Pala, Palakkattumala, Nazareth-Thekkekara, Kodinattukunnu, Provincial House, Chethipuzha and Elikulam. While at Elikulam, she had some health problems and entered into a life of rest. Meanwhile, she had fits and was hospitalised at St.Thomas Hospital, Chethipuzha. After two weeks her condition became serious, and consciously received the Sacrament of the Sick. On 17 December, 2018 at 3.30am, she left us and went for her eternal reward.
