Sr.Patrick (Alekutty) was born on 11 June, 1937, at Kottangal, Manimala, Changanassery Archdiocese. She belonged to Panamthottam family and her parents were late Mr.Joseph and late Mrs.Annamma. She joined SD, Chunangamvely and made her First Profession on 6 January, 1959 and Perpetual Profession on 30 May, 1964. She was a person of great missionary zeal and was one of the first missionaries of SD Congregation. Sr.Patrick worked for the empowerment of women and uplift of the poor suffering lots in the slums. She worked in North India at Kailash Colony, New Delhi, Jahangirpuri, Old Delhi and Kasauli, Himachal Pradesh. She dedicated her life to spread the Good News. It was her initiative to provide accommodation facility for the patients from Sri Chithira and RCC hospitals, at a reduced rate, along with the help of our convent at Thiruvananthapuram. She worked in Samaritan Hospital for many years as in charge of the hospital canteen. During this period she could touch the hearts of many people with the love of Jesus. She visited the in-patients and prepared food according to their needs. She has
served as Provincial Councillor too. Sr.Patrick was a jovial person, with deep prayer experience and enjoyed community life. She had been to Thailand, to take part in a training programme ‘Care for the Aged and the infirm’. She also worked in Mercy Home, Kodinattukunnu and old age home at Vyasarpady. She was young at heart and very enthusiastic. One day suddenly she felt sick. She was treated at St.Thomas Hospital, Chethipuzha and Pazhanganad Hospital. As her condition was not improving she was brought to the Provincial House, Chethipuzha. There she received the Sacrament of the Sick consciously and prepared herself for her final journey. On 13 February, 2013, Wednesday, at 1.30 pm, she breathed her last. Dear Sr.Patrick, your missionary zeal is ever inspiring to us.
