Sr.John Mary (Thandu) was born on 6 March, 1917 as the eldest of nine children to late Mr.Paul and late Mrs.Thresia of Moonjely family, Njarackal, Ernakulam-Angamaly Archdiocese. After completing TTC, she started teaching. Later she joined SD Chunangamvely in 1935. She made her First Profession on 24 April, 1941 and Perpetual Profession on 6 June, 1946. The same year itself, Sr.John Mary began teaching at Perumanur School. Sr.John Mary was a person of clear vision in life and was very zealous too. She was obedient and hard working. She had special care and attention to the poor, suffering and needy ones. Along with humble service, she showed great hospitality and also gave Jesus to everyone whom she came in contact with. She lived in places like Kuzhuppilly, Perumanur, Mercy Home, Chethipuzha and Kanjirappally. She served the Congregation as General Councillor, local superior and Head Mistress in St.Thomas GHS, Perumanur. She was very particular in maintaining the records accurately. She received guests with dignity. The last twelve years of her life were spent at the Provincial House, Chethipuzha, and suffered various discomforts of old age. During last six months, she was totally bed-ridden. On 13 August, 2007, at 5.10 am, she died peacefully amidst the chants and prayers of her dear ones and sisters. May the Lord grant her eternal rest.
